The College of Arts and Sciences is the academic core of UMSL.  The college teaches students to think critically, reflect on important issues, communicate effectively and prepare for a professional career.

The college has several outstanding academic programs that continue to be recognized nationally by U.S. News & World Report.  The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice retained its ranking as fourth best graduate program.  Other top-notch degrees recognized were clinical psychology, psychology, social work, biology and chemistry and biochemistry. In addition, the Military Times ranked UMSL’s Veteran Center in the top third of Best for Vets: Colleges 2015.
